What To Do During a Heat Advisory

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS
EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY
WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE
POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS...STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED
ROOM...STAY OUT OF THE SUN...AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND
NEIGHBORS

Encourage staff and clients to limit physical activity, take steps to keep
cool, drink plenty of water and check on at-risk individuals.  Please
remember that the elderly and people on medications for mental health and
cardiovascular disease are particularly at risk.  Persons who require
special assistance may call 211, the Community Information Line in
Milwaukee County.  The Health Department has additional heat health
information available on our website at  www.milwaukee.gov/heat

To contact Milwaukee Health Department after hours call 286-2150 or
286-3200.  Health providers are asked to contact the Health Department at
the above number if you see heat-related morbidity or mortality.

Weather information from the NWS is available on the internet at
