Questions for Licensing Sue Farmer requested in advance-
Cheri Esser
Licensing
and competency testing for direct care workers
Send or fax
any additional questions to Cheri Esser- HealthSpan Inc.541-4730
Questions
as submitted and raised:
How are we going to pay for the testing as providers? Any funding source set up or investigated
into? Where are we as providers going to
send the employees for this training/ testing?
Clarify the whole process. Is a
list of these training sites and testing sites coming out? When? Who is required to take the competency
testing? Who is all required? Existing staff? New staff? What are the cut off
dates? How long do they have to get this
testing? Time lines? Deadlines? When is this going to be implemented? What happens if the employee or new applicant
does not pass? Alternative testing for
learning disabilities? How is the test
going to be fair for reading and writing issues? How many times can you take the test? How long do you have to wait to retake
it? What is the state doing to ensure
equal opportunity in testing for individuals from different ethnic backgrounds?
What can we do about employees that have test phobia? How many times can you retake the test? Is the testing required before hiring? How long is it good for? Who pays and how much? What if agencies cannot incur the cost will
there be a fund set aside for this? What
is the point of training if you don’t trust the trainers who already have
jumped through hoops to become trainers under your regulations and got their
programs certified? What is the interval
between training and testing? Is the
testing a life time certification then?
What brought this testing about?
What concrete evidence and percentage of individual’s have posed an
actual problem in the past? Fee
restrictions and per employee limits?
Other questions for the state.
Medical Issues:
Issues with insulin: if and
individual cannot give own shots, what measures exactly need to be in place to
ensure it is appropriate in a CBRF?
State CBRF Forum meetings, When are they scheduled?
Misc: Updates on possible regulation for less than 3
individual’s in apartment settings.
Certification clarifications. Can
you go into a little detail on how to do it?
Where to get the application?
When it is required?
